Our Program in Four Weeks

Week 1:

Addiction

Recovery is sustainable for a lifetime when you understand the nature of addiction. The root of any addiction stems from a combination of inherited, learned, or practiced behaviors. Addiction is not triggered until psychoactive drugs are used or behaviors practiced.

The effects of addiction on the brain can be serious and long lasting. Our program combines intensive treatment with relapse prevention, family care and lifelong alumni programs to address all aspects of the disease of addiction.

Week 2:

Managing Feelings & Emotions

Acknowledging and managing our emotions is crucial for self understanding and awareness. We believe the key behavioural changes to find sustained recovery are:

  • Honesty and breakdown of the denial system
  • Recognition of the need for change
  • Acceptance of the tools for change
  • A willingness to utilize these tools on a daily basis

We work towards examining our emotions while becoming aware of the impact our emotions have on others. We also help you to establish a healthy belief system for your new life.

Week 3:

Family & Loved Ones

We at Crosbie believe that addiction is a family disease and that recovery is possible both for the addict as well as the entire family. We offer education, support, and recovery tools in order to improve lives and develop coping skills. Topics include:

  • Establishing healthy boundaries
  • The stages of codependency
  • Managing expectations

We provide both one-on-one and group counselling for family members. This is an opportunity to gain education and insight into the addiction process from multiple perspectives.

Week 4:

Relapse Prevention

It is essential that each client be able to self diagnose potential triggers that could jeopardize their own recovery. Clients learn what relapse is and how it can be prevented. This crucial effort results in a much more comprehensive and effective recovery plan. Crosbie House provides continued support and aftercare through its staff, volunteers and a large network of alumni who have completed the program and have go on to lead healthy and productive lives.

Our program works

But don’t just take our word for it. Here's what our clients are saying about their own experience.
