About Our Facility
-
How are the facilities?
Crosbie House is an extensively renovated private residential facility accommodating a maximum of 10 clients. Client rooms and lounge are on the main floor adjacent to the kitchen, dining room and an expansive deck and gazebo. The lower floor has two fully equipped program rooms complete with Smart Boards, computers, flat screen TVs and comfortable seating. The lower area is also where you will find the staff offices, a laundry room and a 24 hour mini kitchen/coffee area. Outside is a heated mini gym and sitting area.
-
Where are you located?
Crosbie House is located in the municipality of New Minas in the scenic Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada; a one hour drive from Halifax or the Stanfield International airport. It is the last house on the road adjacent to a “green belt” area offering privacy and pheasants to feed.
-
How long have you been in business?
The Crosbie program has proven itself over 30 years. Crosbie House Society was incorporated in 2006 as a private not-for profit addiction treatment centre. It is managed by a private professional Board of Directors.
How Do I Apply?
-
Is there a wait list?
New clients arrive weekly. Our goal is to get you on the road to recovery after your first call. We do everything possible to expedite admission.
-
How do I apply for admission?
Call 1-866-681-0613. We are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. An addiction counsellor will speak with you to determine your specific situation, addiction history and health status. Admission requests can be made by individuals, private and public organizations, families, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, referral agents, and concerned others.
Treatment Program
-
Can you tell more about the program fee?
As of July 1st, 2023, pricing will be adjusted to $10,800 for the 28-day inpatient program. This includes two years of aftercare and support.
-
Does medical insurance pay for treatment?
Many private Canadian Insurance companies cover treatment for addiction treatment. Crosbie will assist you by providing any requested documentation. Because insurance plans vary, individuals are required to pay for the cost of treatment at the time of admission or provide written confirmation from the insurer payment will be made to Crosbie House for treatment prior to completion of the program.
-
Is public funding available?
Crosbie House is a private not-for-profit fee-for-service addictions facility with no public funding available. Often employers through their Occupational Health, Employee Assistance or Human Resource functions will help fund treatment or arrange a payroll deduction option. Wanting to expedite treatment and maintain confidentiality, many clients opt for private pay. Recognizing the cost of continued use ($60-$500/day), private pay is a sound financial investment. It may also save your life.
-
What is covered in the treatment program?
Crosbie House provides a four-week treatment program with no additional costs for any of our supplementary programs or services. Thanks to the financial support our partners and supporters we can offer a quality inclusive program for thousands of dollars less than for-profit alternatives.
Payment terms can be arranged by calling Ben Robinson at 1-866-681-0613. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Residential inpatient treatment has a non-refundable deposit fee of $1000 to secure a bed.
-
What can I bring with me?
Please bring your provincial Health Care Card, any extended health care cards & sufficient prescribed medications for the duration of your stay.
Bring comfortable clothes, outerwear, walking shoes and appropriate clothing for walking or using the gym. Sheets, blankets, pillows and towels are supplied. Do not bring alcohol-based aftershave, cologne, perfume or mouthwash or toothpaste.
Note; for reasons of safety and security personal belongings are subject to search, by staff, upon intake. We have laundry facilities and supplies. You will be responsible for laundering your own clothing.
Clients are provided with internet access, telephone and cable TV so we recommend minimizing distractions by leaving your laptop and cell phone at home.
-
How is my privacy protected?
The majority of our staff are in recovery so privacy and confidentiality are well understood and respected.
-
What kinds of addiction do you treat?
Alcohol, drug and gambling addictions.
-
Do you require any clean time prior to admission?
A detoxification period is required. Talk to a Crosbie counsellor at 1-866-681-0613 for help in this process.
-
Will my family be involved?
It is recommended. Every effort is made to include family and/or significant others. This encompasses meeting(s) with the counselor, attending the weekly family night and/or on-site Al-Anon meeting and participation at the quarterly one day seminar for families.
-
Who are the clients?
Crosbie thrives on diversity; new male and female clients of all ages, professions, backgrounds, addiction(s) have completed the program. Clients can be different in many ways but typically leave with many things in common; gratitude, hope, tools for recovery, and a sense of belonging to a new “family”.
-
What is your success rate?
On average 3/4 of clients are abstinent at the end of the first year. The probability of a successful outcome increases significantly for alumni who have followed the aftercare plan.
-
Why 12 step Addiction Treatment?

Talk to any of our alumni or your doctor if he/she is familiar with our services. If not, you or your doctor can talk to one of our physicians.
-
Can I still contact Crosbie House after I leave?
